A system receives a first request for data associated with a data stream received over a first network from a remote source and then determines when the requested data will be available based on analyzing the data stream. The system communicates a second request for the requested data over a second network to the remote source when the requested data will not be available from the data stream within a threshold time and receives the requested data from the remote source over at least one from the list including the first network and the second network.
To freely establish a peripheral equipment selection operating environment of excellent operability which can remarkably reduce an operation burden which is applied until construction information of selectable peripheral equipment can be confirmed and can easily confirm the construction information of the selectable peripheral equipment by everyone by a simple operating instruction, a CPU obtains construction information of a printer that is being selected and default setting on the basis of a selection instructing state relative to a selectable printer candidate on a network and allows them to be caption-displayed at a position near the position indicated by a cursor on a printer selection picture plane displayed on a CRT.
Disclosed is a feature for a vehicle that enables taking precautionary actions in response to conditions on the road network around or ahead of the vehicle, in particular, a blind intersection along a section of road. A database that represents the road network is used to determine locations where a blind intersection is located along a section of road. Then, precautionary action data is added to the database to indicate a location at which a precautionary action is to be taken about the blind intersection located along the section of road. A precautionary action system installed in a vehicle uses this database, or a database derived therefrom, in combination with a positioning system to determine when the vehicle is at a location that corresponds to the location of a precautionary action. When the vehicle is at such a location, a precautionary action is taken by a vehicle system as the vehicle is approaching a blind intersection.
Efficient data processing apparatus and methods include hardware components which are pre-programmed by software. Each hardware component triggers the other to complete its tasks. After the final pre-programmed hardware task is complete, the hardware component issues a software interrupt.
A data processing device includes processing circuitry 20 for executing a first memory access instruction to a first address of a memory device 40 and a second memory access instruction to a second address of the memory device 40, the first address being different from the second address. The data processing device also includes prefetching circuitry 30 for prefetching data from the memory device 40 based on a stride length 70 and instruction analysis circuitry 50 for determining a difference between the first address and the second address. Stride refining circuitry 60 is also provided to refine the stride length based on factors of the stride length and factors of the difference calculated by the instruction analysis circuitry 50.
A data accessing method, and a storage system and a controller using the same are provided. The data accessing method is suitable for a flash memory storage system having a data perturbation module. The data accessing method includes receiving a read command from a host and obtaining a logical block to be read and a page to be read from the read command. The data accessing method also includes determining whether a physical block in a data area corresponding to the logical block to be read is a new block and transmitting a predetermined data to the host when the physical block corresponding to the logical block to be read is a new block. Thereby, the host is prevented from reading garbled code from the flash memory storage system having the data perturbation module.
A statue management section of a control section is provided with a corresponding real number storage section that stores a real number converted from a logical number by a configuration number converting section. When the corresponding real number storage section has stored configuration information with a real number of the next transition state, the state management section directly supplies the real number to the configuration information storage section in the next or later processing cycle.
A data processing apparatus includes multiple processing means that are connected in a ring shape via corresponding communication means respectively. Each communication means includes a reception means for receiving data from a previous communication means, and a transmission means for transmitting data to a next communication means. Connection information is assigned to each of the reception means and the transmission means. The communication means, when receiving a packet that has same connection information as one assigned to its reception means, causes the corresponding processing means to perform data processing on the packet, sets the connection information assigned to its transmission means to the packet, and transmits the packet to the next communication means, and when receiving a packet that has connection information that is not same as one assigned to its reception means, transmits the packet to the next communication means without changing the connection information of the packet.
A data transfer control apparatus includes a transferring unit that transfers data from a transfer source memory to a transfer destination memory, according to an instruction from a first processor; and a first processor configured to detect a process execute by the first processor, determine whether transfer of the data is urgent, based on the type of the detected process, and control the transferring unit or the first processor to transfer the data, based on a determination result.
A data storage device includes a first memory device configured to store data having a first property, a second memory device configured to store data having a second property, and a controller. The controller selects data stored in the first memory device, and transfers the selected data to the second memory device or stores the selected data in another physical location of the first memory device selectively depending on an update count (UC) of an address at which the selected data is stored.
A transfer control circuit stores data in a FIFO memory, outputs data in the FIFO memory in response to a data request signal, and outputs a state signal in accordance with an amount of stored data in the FIFO memory. An output data generating unit outputs image data having a horizontal image size in accordance with a horizontal count value and a horizontal synchronizing signal, and thereafter, outputs blank data. When the state signal indicates that the FIFO memory is in a “EMPTY” or “MODERATE” storage state, a blank control unit outputs a blank addition signal until the FIFO memory changes to a “FULL” storage state.
Memory system operations are extended for a data processor by DMA, cache, or memory controller to include a DMA descriptor, including a set of operations and parameters for the operations, which provides for data compression and decompression during or in conjunction with processes for moving data between memory elements of the memory system. The set of operations can be configured to use the parameters and perform the operations of the DMA, cache, or memory controller. The DMA, cache, or memory controller can support moves between memory having a first access latency, such as memory integrated on the same chip as a processor core, and memory having a second access latency that is longer than the first access latency, such as memory on a different integrated circuit than the processor core.
Data is compressed using content addressable memory without disruption despite error using a plurality of content addressable memories to detect sequentially repeating data elements of the data. Compression information is generated for each sequence of repeating data elements that repeat for at least a compression threshold without any one of the plurality of content addressable memories generating an indication of an error for a matching content addressable memory entry. Individual data elements are output for each of the data elements that do not repeat for the compression threshold. Compression information is generated for each sequence of repeating data elements that repeat for at least the compression threshold and then generating a currently searched data element that matches the repeating data elements when any one of the plurality of content addressable memories generates an indication of an error for a content addressable memory entry that matches the currently searched data element.
A method of transmitting data according to a data transmission protocol wherein the data is transmitted as a plurality of data frames and each data frame includes an error checking field comprising at least two sub-fields, the data of the first sub-field being formed by a first error checking method performed on data of the frame and the data of the second sub-field being formed by a second error checking method performed on the said data of the frame, the first and second methods being such that the data of the first sub-field has different error checking properties from those of the data of the second sub-field.
Embodiments relate to a computer implemented information processing system, method and program product for data access. The information processing system includes a data store having a top tier store and at least another tier store with the top tier store including a counter for each entry of a symbol and another tier store including a representative frequency value defined for the another tier store. A sorter is also provided configured to sort the symbol in the top tier store and the another tier stores according to a value generated in the counter for the assessed symbol. The said sorter is also configured to restore entry of the symbol in the top tier store, in response to a symbol having moved from said top tier store to another tier store, by using the representative frequency value defined for said another store to which said symbol was moved.
Embodiments are described for a system and method of providing a data miner that decouples the analytic flow solution components from the data source. An analytic-flow solution then couples with the target data source through a simple set of data source connector, table and transformation objects, to perform the requisite analytic flow function. As a result, the analytic-flow solution needs to be designed only once and can be re-used across multiple target data sources. The analytic flow can be modified and updated at one place and then deployed for use on various different target data sources.
Learning-based techniques are increasingly effective at controlling complex systems using data-driven models. However, most work done so far has focused on learning individual tasks or control laws. Hence, it is still a largely unaddressed research question how multiple tasks can be learned efficiently and simultaneously on the same system. In particular, no efficient state space exploration schemes have been designed for multi-task control settings. Using this research gap as our main motivation, we present an algorithm that approximates the smallest data set that needs to be collected in order to achieve high control performance for multiple learning-based control laws. We describe system uncertainty using a probabilistic Gaussian process model, which allows us to quantify the impact of potentially collected data on each learning-based controller. We then determine the optimal measurement locations by solving a stochastic optimization problem approximately. We show that, under reasonable assumptions, the approximate solution converges towards that of the exact problem. Additionally, we provide a numerical illustration of the proposed algorithm.
XSS is a security vulnerability that permits injecting malicious code into the client side of a web application. In the simplest situations, XSS vulnerabilities arise when a web application includes the user input in the web output without due sanitization. Such simple XSS vulnerabilities can be detected fairly reliably with blackbox scanners, which inject malicious payload into sensitive parts of HTTP requests and look for the reflected values in the web output.
Contemporary blackbox scanners are not effective against stored XSS vulnerabilities, where the malicious payload in an HTTP response originates from the database storage of the web application, rather than from the associated HTTP request. Similarly, many blackbox scanners do not systematically handle context-sensitive XSS vulnerabilities, where the user input is included in the web output after a transformation that prevents the scanner from recognizing the original value, but does not sanitize the value sufficiently. Among the combination of two basic data sources (stored vs reflected) and two basic vulnerability patterns (context sensitive vs not so), only one is therefore tested systematically by state-of-the-art blackbox scanners.
Our work focuses on systematic coverage of the three remaining combinations. We present a graybox mechanism that extends a general purpose database to cooperate with our XSS scanner, reporting and injecting the test inputs at the boundary between the database and the web application. Furthermore, we design a mechanism for identifying the injected inputs in the web output even after encoding by the web application, and check whether the encoding sanitizes the injected inputs correctly in the respective browser context. We evaluate our approach on eight mature and technologically diverse web applications, discovering previously unknown and exploitable XSS flaws in each of those applications.
In this paper we design suboptimal control laws for an unknown linear system on the basis of measured data. We focus on the suboptimal linear quadratic regulator problem and the suboptimal H2 control problem. For both problems, we establish conditions under which a given data set contains sufficient information for controller design. We follow up by providing a data-driven parameterization of all suboptimal controllers. We will illustrate our results by numerical simulations, which will reveal an interesting trade-off between the number of collected data samples and the achieved controller performance.

Researchers have compared the findings of a citizen-science project and a long-running butterfly monitoring scheme in the UK to gain insights into the reliability of data gathering by the public. They found that — contrary to the scepticism with which such projects are sometimes viewed — much of the citizen-recorded data agreed with the findings of more formal monitoring, particularly for species often found in gardens. This indicates that mass-participation sampling not only provides a valuable tool for public engagement, but, in this case, could also provide valid data to inform butterfly conservation.
